The Childrens Air Ambulance (TCAA) is set to open the doors to a new sustainable ‘Store of the Future’ in West Bridgford to keep saving lives, whilst helping to save the planet.

Following a year of hard work and dedication, the construction of the groundbreaking store has almost completed on the site of the flagship Children’s Air Ambulance store which opened back in 2012 in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire.

Sustainability remains a top priority for many UK consumers when they’re shopping so the vital children’s charity partnered with an award-winning sustainable contractor, Oak, who are bringing the visionary design to life – ensuring the space reflects the charity’s values and commitment to a brighter, eco-friendly future.

Hannah Coventry, Head of Retail for the charity says:

“We are so excited to open our very first ‘Store of the Future’ at our children’s charity’s flagship store in West Bridgford.

“This was the store I opened back in 2012 as the Store Manager there and I am so honoured to be involved in the transformation of the store. Customers will have never seen a store quite like it, using salvaged and upcycled materials to create a unique and sustainable charity store,” she added.

The store has undergone a significant transformation to turn it into the ‘Store of the Future’, selling clothing, bric-a-brac, electricals, with a dedicated corner for children’s clothing and toys.

The first of its kind charity store has the theme of sustainability in every aspect, as it has reclaimed wood from a church for its flooring, old scaffolding pipes for rails, repurposed and upcycled doors and dressers, and so many other unique and sustainable features.

Ambassador for the charity, Charity Shop Girl Jen Graham, is scheduled to open the store on 01 March and says:

“I love this new store – it’s bringing a new style and vision to charity retail. It flows nicely with clear departments and the colours and lighting will give a more enjoyable experience without removing the essence of why we love charity shopping.

“The more we can keep donating good quality items to charity shops, the more items we can keep in circulation – whether that’s bric-a-bac, fashion or accessories. We’re keeping the items out of landfill and providing a range of options to shop second-hand.”

“I am a huge supporter of the incredible charity and the work they do, helping to save the lives of critically ill babies and children across the UK. Remember when you’re shopping second-hand each item purchased will go towards supporting the charity,” adds Jen.

The Children’s Air Ambulance operates nineteen stores around the country and this first-of its kind venture elevates charity shopping to a new level.

The public are encouraged to attend the grand opening on 01 March 2024, as the charity unveils a store like never before.

If you have embraced a vegan lifestyle for ‘Veganuary’, a brand-new, footwear innovation means you can also extend your new principles to your wardrobe and do even more good for the planet, by wearing truly amazing cactus leather trainers.

Family business, Cocorose London, has launched a ‘Kew’ range of ‘plant-powered’ trainers that encompass this vegan, eco-friendly material.

This plant-based, planet-considerate leather sits atop a vegan sole with its own eco-twist.  The rubber actually contains 30% cork, which has been recycled from used wine-industry corks.

This exciting Kew vegan range is available in five different options of low-top, handmade trainers. All stay true to the brand’s ethos of producing the most comfortable footwear in the market, with an indulgent degree of foot cosseting, plus a contoured footbed.

Four of the low-top trainers are in off-white cactus leather and are distinguished by a coloured heel tab.  This is available in Beige, Marine Blue, Bordeaux and a Mostaza yellow.  The fifth trainer is a versatile, sleek all-black.  All will provide owners with a real talking point, when worn in the office, at social occasions or just when out and about, day to day.

All Kew trainers come with recycled polyester, effortless beige laces and bear a slightly speckled, eye-catching sole, thanks to the recycled cork element. Priced at £145 they come beautifully packaged in a Cocorose London recyclable Plant-Powered cardboard box.

You don’t have to be vegan to want to adopt these trainers, particularly if you like to make planet-protecting lifestyle choices.  This range is also helping one of Earth’s natural stars – the cactus plant – to be supported as a crop.  Cacti are natural carbon sinks and a 14-acre cactus plantation absorbs and extracts around 8000 tons of carbon from the atmosphere. Cacti do not drink up vital water resources, can survive drought conditions and help rejuvenate surrounding soil for other crops. Their cultivation supports local communities in Mexico.

The new Kew trainers are on sale at www.cocoroselondon.com and orders for boutiques and other outlets, who want to provide customers with a fantastic reason to buy something new and innovative, can be taken on 020 3146 8806.

Not only is it a thoughtful gift for a loved one, adopting a penguin will give a huge boost to the Oceanarium’s conservation efforts and a donation will be made to a charity supported by the Oceanarium to help fund marine habitats worldwide and projects in the wild. When someone purchases a penguin adoption package from the Oceanarium, they receive, a special printed penguin adoption certificate, personalised with the name of the adoptee, a cute penguin plush toy, a fact sheet full of information about the species of Humboldt penguins, a welcome letter with information about what this means to the Humboldt penguins of the Oceanarium, a penguin photo magnet, a penguin keyring magnet, two adult complimentary tickets, name displayed on the wall at Penguin Beach Encounter of the Oceanarium for 12 months.

Since launching penguin adoptions in December, the Oceanarium has raised a whopping £200 for charity.
Adoption packs start at £24.99 in the gift shop or £55 for postage adoptions and are presented in a themed animal carrier box. Waddle you waiting for? Adopt a penguin today and give back this Valentine’s Day.

WE ARE BACK! I wanted to share my story to show anyone out there running a business, you can stop and start again. Firstly, thank you to our following for being kind and patient. We are now back and let’s say a lot has changed. Sometimes something happens in life and it completely changes your route.

Reset…
As you all know, before Christmas my laptop decided to give up. Well that totally threw a spanner in the launch of my next newspaper and the running of my online subscriptions. I had to stop and RESET.
During 2023 a few life changing situations entered into our lives… something you don’t want to share or feel the need to shout about. Reflecting back we found it was time to rest and it was a sign that the new year was going to be different.

Refocus…
This is how the REFOCUS begun… My laptop was fixed, but I was gutted to learn all my hard work for the Winter newspapers I was working on mid crash – was lost. It was a final straw to show my energy levels weren’t there to redo the work and my mind went into overdrive of what’s next, what do I do, I feel bad to let all my readers down. My focus then changed, it was clear to me that it was time to make a change. Due to the changes in our future path, it was clear the energy we have needs to be REFOCUSED into personal life, but of course as a strong business woman to give up is just not something I could accept.

Restart…
Now it was time to RESTART. Time is precious and this had to be reviewed, I worked out what is feasible, and I have worked on what I love most. This is my announcement to say, I am sorry but my beautiful Eco Newspapers are being paused for publish until… well I am not sure. But, here is how I am RESTARTING, I am back live and you can still read stories on my newsblog, I will still keep being active and connecting with you all on social media and lets just say The Eco News is still going to keep showing the world that Eco Positivity is important and not only sometimes do we need to save ourselves, but more importantly we NEED TO SAVE OUR PLANET.  Questions and Answers.
I paid to be in the Winter Edition, will I get a refund? Yes you will, we aim to issue all refunds within the next 60 days.
I have a subscription, does that mean I can’t read newspapers anymore? The subscription accounts will stay live until the subscription periods end.
How can I read new stories? You can read them on our live newsblog or you can sign up to our free newsletter to receive news vial email.
